Some easy style prompts to dress better!

I’ve been sharing my outfits online for over 5 years. There are a lot of days where I feel stuck struggling to think of something I genuinely feel inspired wearing. So here are some style prompts to help you get dressed in the morning if you’re ever stuck on what to wear. Some are basic tips I’ve put here to remind you of them, others are for the sake of trying something new.

  1. Wear your wardrobe basics with 1 statement piece (could be earrings, bag or jacket etc)

  2. Wear neutrals with 1 statement pop of colour (in a colour that makes you feel good or suits your skintone)

  3. Create an outfit with 3 colours

  4. Create a tonal outfit (and you can use accessories to bring colour if you would like)

  5. Style something dressy with something casual for balance (For example, blazer and jeans)

  6. Use chunky shoes or accessories to bring a modern edge to a classic outfit

  7. Style an old favourite with a new wardrobe favourite

  8. Create a statement jewellery stack using what you have (inspired by Instagram #neckmess)

  9. Layer a t-shirt or light top underneath the top you’re wearing (and have the neckline show through)

  10. Build an outfit using textures rather than colour and print

  11. Combine a more statement texture e.g. mohair knit, or patent, with a ‘smooth’ texture e.g. cotton

  12. Try styling something you regret purchasing - mix it with staples to wear

  13. Add a bold and classic pop of red - could be lipstick or accessory/clothing

  14. Try using complementary colours together - these are colours opposite each other on the colour wheel

  15. If you know your 3 style rules e.g. playful, modern, feminine, channel all 3 styles into your outfit

  16. Combine a mix of styles in your outfit - pair a feminine dress with a contrasting leather or bomber jacket
